Ellakru is a Latvia-conceived Ella Kruglyanskaya now lives and works in New York, portraying animation like companions and “fence-straddling back-stabbers” all over the place in vast scale oil compositions and wall paintings. Ella’s work is pressed with risqué humor, overstated structures, rich imprint making and associations. She portrays her goal as “pictorial occasions… [that] try to an implicit turn of phrase” – the substance, references and line-work all sifted through satire.
Her work is amazingly engaging, from the knobbly knees to the startling dresses enhanced with the essences of furious, humiliated men. Ella takes the customs of comic style and turns them on their head (shoulders, knees and toes) to incredible impact.
